George Walton Lucas Jr.
George Walton Lucas Jr. (born May 14, 1944) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known as the creator of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series, and is also the founder of Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound.Lucas was born in 1944 in Mudesto, California, United States. Having been interested in film since childhood, Lucas studied film studies at the University of Southern California in 1967 and directed the short film "THX 1138 4EB" after graduation. The film won an award at the 1971 Venice Film Festival, making Lucas's name known.
In 1977, Lucas produced "Star Wars." The film became very popular all over the world, having been praised for opening a new chapter in science fiction movies. Lucas became a big name in the film industry with the success of "Star Wars", and later directed the "Indiana Jones" series, the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy, and the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy.
Lucas has been active in various fields besides movies. Lucasfilm produced animated films such as "Avatar," "Wall-E," and "Finding Nemo," and played a major role in developing special effects technology through Industrial Light & Magic.
Lucas retired from the film industry in 2012 after selling Lucasfilm to Disney. In 2020, I donated the copyright to the Star Wars series through the Lucas Foundation.
